Florida License Suspension Defense Attorney

If you have been caught driving unsafely or illegally in Florida, you may have your license suspended by the DHSMV (Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles). You may also lose your license for a variety of other reasons, including:

  • Giving false information on a license application.
  • Refusing to comply with Florida state laws. This could include failure to pay child support, not stopping for a school bus, not carrying required vehicle insurance, using tobacco if you're younger than 18, or refusing to take a blood alcohol test when suspected of driving under the influence (DUI).
  • Getting a traffic ticket and failing to pay the fine or appear in court.
  • Receiving point violations on your license. Twelve points in a 12-month period will result in a 30-day suspension, 18 points in an 18-month period will result in a three-month suspension, and 24 points in a 36-month period will result in a 12-month suspension.

Hiring an experienced lawyer who has a background in handling suspended license cases can mean the difference between having the right to drive and never being able to drive again. Attorney Robert G. Whittel has the knowledge of both the DHSMV and Florida’s legal system. He will provide you with excellent representation and in most cases will be able to help you get you your license back.  He will also try to keep any points off of your DHSMV record by asking the court to allow you to attend traffic school.
